My dad comes here basically every day during his lunch break! Today he took me, and it was the perfect hole in the wall-type authentic Mexican food you could ever hope for.
The lady we ordered from was so sweet, she made me feel like a million bucks! I order two tacos for $2.15 each, and i was full! Their carnitas are unmatched.
A classic family favorite restaurant for us now! -

Hands down the best place in town to get fresh, juicy carnitas! Mayo's is known for their carnitas because they're never dry, perfectly seasoned and not overly salty.
Prices are very reasonable here and mostly everything on the menu is under $10. So far I haven't been disappointed in anything that I've ordered. Everything is freshly prepared and served in a timely manner. There's a small salsa bar that includes roasted chunky salsa, salsa verde, and a red tomatillo salsa. All of them are delicious!
Today I ordered the chicken taquitos combo plate but instead I was served carnitas taquitos by mistake. This was actually a blessing because they were amazing! Highly recommend trying these instead of the same old chicken taquitos.
I'm glad they remodeled the restaurant side of this place because it is more inviting than what it used to be. The store is where you place your food order so make sure you start there and not the restaurant. Customer service is always friendly even if you don't speak Spanish don't get discouraged because they will understand you.
Overall one of my favorite places for authentic Mexican food in town! -

I got 6 tacos they were all bad. The meat was rotting and it had a disgusting dead animal smell.

Great, real Mexican food. Had the tostadas de pollo twice - a bargain and very flavorful. Nice service and people. Recommend as the real deal.

Been meaning to come here for some months now, but wasn't sure of their business hours as no one seems to pick up the phone here! Apparently they're open daily from 8am-8pm.
I came in today looking for menudo. I was so resolute until I remember that most places only serve menudo on the weekends n this place was no exception. Dohhhh!!!! They are an exception in that they serve the BEST menudo I ever had! So chunky and hearty and seriously delicioso.
Mayo's got two parts: right side is a small grocery/convenient shop with the carniceria and the other side has all the seating. The big menu hangs on the store side (you'lll see it upon entering) and you order n pay at the front checkout counter. Then, have a seat and they will bring the food out. The salsa bar is on the seating side, you gotta ask the guys for the small containers.
I was greeted by the owner from behind the checkout counter n I told him I was craving menudo after trying it a few months back. Then of course, he broke it to me gently that they only serve that on the weekend. They, however, sell uncooked menudo that you can take home to make yourself.... only if you're seasoned in Mexican cooking, otherwise COME BACK ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY!!
I ended up trying five different tacos: carne, carnitas, tripitas, lengua and cabeza. Oh my goodness, they were spectacular. I LOVE that they're so bold with serving you exactly the food they eat. No excuses, no hesitation. Absolutely unapologetic. Note: These are big chunks of recognizable meats that they put in your tacos... so don't order lengua and get squeamish.
The owner was super thoughtful. He was the one who later gave me foil paper without prompting because he knew I would have leftovers. Cool guy.
Seems a lot of people who frequent Mayo's are regulars/locals who know the place well. I saw a lot of passerbys appearing quite dodgy, peeking into Mayo's without stepping in. They looked so unsure. One lady looked at my food, popped in briefly and slinked back out. Perhaps she expected to be seated with a menu. Oh well, go awayyyyy.
This is now another top favorite spot of mine. Amazing food.
